The Barre is the Arts Centre Melbourne’s bar and dining spot, located on the ground level of the Theatres Building. That location gives it a very specific role in Melbourne’s bar scene: it is one of the most useful places for pre-show drinks, post-show drinks, theatre snacks and relaxed meals around St Kilda Road and Southbank.

Ocean 12 brings a late-night rooftop and karaoke angle to Southbank. Located at Crown Melbourne, it is very different from a riverside pub or casual laneway bar. This is a venue for cocktails, private karaoke rooms, late trading, groups and nights that are meant to feel bigger than one quiet drink.

Ludlow Bar is one of Southbank’s most useful riverside venues. Sitting by the Yarra at Riverside Quay, it combines the feel of a public bar, dining room and large outdoor terrace, making it a flexible choice for both drinks and food.
The appeal of Ludlow is that it can handle many different occasions. It works for after-work drinks, casual lunches, weekend catch-ups, sports-style pub energy, dinner with friends, riverside drinks and larger groups that need space. The terrace gives it an easy advantage when the weather is good.
